Artist David Catrow
"David
Catrow’s day job is with the Springfield News-Sun; he creates popular
editorial cartoons, now syndicated in more than 900 newspapers. Beyond
the editorial pages, his signature zany illustrations delight a much
younger audience that has come to love Catrow for his picture books.
The artist has collaborated with a number of award-winning children's
authors, including Kathryn Lasky and Robert D. San Souci. He has
illustrated several critically acclaimed titles, including
She's
Wearing a Dead Bird on Her Head (1995), which was named New
York Times Best Illustrated Book for the Year.
Catrow’s eccentric characters come to life in works including Stand
Tall, Molly Lou Melon, Plantzilla, and Take Me Out of the
Bathtub, and Other Silly Dilly Songs. In a satirical adaptation of
the old classic, Catrow pokes fun at tradition in Over the River and
Through the Wood (1999)." ~Taken
